Who We Are
We are FinancED, a non-profit organization led by high school students who are passionate about promoting financial literacy and sustainability throughout the community. Our mission focuses on reaching underprivileged youth by visiting schools with historically limited access to financial education, introducing students to the importance of financial responsibility and environmental sustainability. We teach foundational skills in budgeting, investing, and entrepreneurship, while also providing students with resources to further their education independently. Additionally, we help students explore opportunities in sustainable business practices, internships, and college admissions. Our workshops act as a gateway for students to dive deeper into sustainable finance and build skills that empower them to make eco-conscious financial decisions. We also host monthly community events where students from different schools come together to connect with like-minded peers and explore their interests in financial literacy and sustainability in a fun, engaging environment.

Elijah is the President and Founder of FinancED. He founded FinancED at the end of his junior year of high school in 2022. Throughout his senior year, he traveled to schools, community centers, and other locations to teach the youth about important topics of financial literacy, such as budgeting and investing, and things that are importan
Elijah is the President and Founder of FinancED. He founded FinancED at the end of his junior year of high school in 2022. Throughout his senior year, he traveled to schools, community centers, and other locations to teach the youth about important topics of financial literacy, such as budgeting and investing, and things that are important that are not part of financial literacy, such as the importance of making a good first impression and how to manage your emotions when faced with conflict.
Elijah is a second-year student at Columbia University studying Computer Science and Economics. He plans to pursue a JD/MBA postgraduate degree. Outside of academia and FinancED, Elijah is also a member of Columbia's Lightweight Rowing Team and different clubs on his university campus, such as BlackGen Capital, Columbia Black Pre-Law Society, and BLK Capital Management. This summer, Elijah had the opportunity to intern with Shark Tank's Daymond John at The Shark Group.

Sebastiao is the Director and Founder of FinancED's Sustainability program and the head of the FinancED sector at Nautilus Middle School.

Sebastiao is the Director and Founder of FinancED's Sustainability program and the head of the FinancED sector at Nautilus Middle School.
He founded the program at the end of his Sophomore year in 2022. Throughout his Junior year, he traveled to schools to teach the youth about important topics of financial literacy, such as budgeting and investing, and incorporated environmental sustainability into his presentations to teach valuable life lessons of how to have profitability while being environmentally responsible. Sebastião is a first year student at the University of Michigan Ann-Arbor studying Economics. He plans to pursue a career in Investment Banking and hopes to one day open a firm of his own dedicated to ESG integration. Outside of academia and FinancED, Sebastião is also a Florida State Champion for the Miami Beach Rowing Club in the Men's 4+ Category. This past summer, Sebastião was re-hired to a paid internship role at Bank Julius Bär Monaco. Sebastiao has since initiated many projects with the bank to educate others which can be found on this FinanceED website.
